By The Fifty Fund (Produced for us by Locomaster Profiles)
Since the foundation of the Fifty Fund we have kept a video record of our achievements and notable events. Trilogy is the collection of programmes from our first ten years.
THE FIRST FIVE YEARS:
This programme charts the early years of the Fifty Fund from the purchase of 50035 Ark Royal in 1991 followed by 50044 Exeter and the later acquisition of 50031 Hood. As well as including footage of all 3 locos at work for BR in their final years of service, it also features notable events such as the spectacular first-time fire-ups of all 3 locos, the very first Class 50-hauled train in preservation and the visit of 50031 to the Mid-Hants and North York Moors railways.
THE PILGRIM HOOVER:
A special programme to commemorate the first working of a preserved Class 50 on the main line. The occasion was the 'The Pilgrim Hoover' railtour on 1st November 1997 which ran from Birmingham New Street to Plymouth and back using 50031. Includes superb lineside shots of the historic run as Hood tackles the notorious south Devon banks as well as cab footage filmed along the coastline between Dawlish and Teignmouth.
ONWARDS & UPWARDS:
Covering the period 1996 to 2000, this programme features plenty of main line action with 50031 Hood, 50044 Exeter and 50049 Defiance. Includes the Cardiff- Rhymney commuter services, numerous railtours...and even a ballast train! Also featured is the road move of 50035 Ark Royal from St Leonards to Kidderminster followed by the locos first runs in preservation. Also featured are the Minehead and Kidderminster Class 50 'concertos'!
These programmes were originally available as three separate VHS tapes. In converting them into DVD format, the footage has been re-mastered to enhance your viewing pleasure.
