Who are we?

Class 50 Alliance Headboard

The Fifty Fund and the Class 50 Alliance are two interrelated organisations that work together to look after six class 50 locomotives originally built for British Railways by the English Electric Company in the late 1960s.

The Alliance owns and maintains the locomotives, and The Fifty Fund supports the work of the Alliance through fund raising and promoting the locomotives' and their operation. We also have a separate company, Class Fifty Operations Ltd, that hires our locomotives to preserved railways and train operators.

You too can be part of continuing class 50 story by purchasing one or more shares in the Class 50 Alliance. As a shareholder you are automatically enrolled as a member of The Fifty Fund. You can find more details here.

We currently have around 1000 shareholders/members who support us financially and in practical ways with their time, effort, skills or experience, and benefit mentally and physically from working with like minded people towards a common objective.
